From cool independent cafés to takeaway spots, Altrincham has no shortage of places for really good coffee. Whether you’re meeting friends, grabbing a caffeine fix, or settling in for brunch, this guide rounds up 10 local favourites worth visiting.

Where to Find the Best Coffee Shops in Altrincham

These coffee shops in Altrincham cover Altrincham Town Centre and the nearby Hale. You might not be thinking about brunch now but when you do, here’s my guide to the best brunch spots in Altrincham so save it for later!

Unfortunately, whilst Manchester City Centre has 3 actual Federal Cafes serving brunch and all sorts of fun Matcha drinks, Altrincham only has a coffee cart but thanks to their Aussie influence, they do coffee really well here, especially a flat white, along with some Aussie specialities in their cake display.

2. IMPERFECT COFFEE

– Best speciality coffee in Altrincham

Well located next to Altrincham train station, you’ll find the best speciality coffee in Altrincham made with so much love, and knowledge. Matthew is the owner of IMPERFECT COFFEE, he trained to be a barista in Japan and he’s incredibly passionate about it.

What I love about IMPERFECT COFFEE, aside from the welcoming and chatty atmosphere, is that they serve all your regular coffees but lots of unique drinks too, like the Iced Shaken Yuzu which is yuzu fruit, espresso and tonic water! Plus they make the perfect matcha drinks like they are made in Japan!

For a really unique coffee shop experience in Altrincham, with amazing coffee, head here!

3. MOURO Coffee Bar & Roasters

– Most stylish coffee bar in Altrincham

MOURO Coffee Bar is the ultimate neighbourhood coffee shop on the edge of Altrincham town along Oxford Road with a stylish green front and even more more stylish interior, and when I want a really good coffee, this is where I go!

They focus on artisanal roasting & design-led coffee bars (they also have a branch in Stockport) serving all your coffee, tea and matcha regulars plus many more unique options, and they sell their beans in store too!

4. à bloc

– Best neighbourhood coffee shop in Altrincham

Just down the road from Altrincham Town Centre and across the road from Stamford Park is one of my favourite Altrincham coffee shops and cafe – a bloc! They serve a brilliant brunch and lunch menu as well as incredible doughnuts and brownies, plus really good coffee.

My ideal day in Altrincham is going to a bloc to get a (really good!!) takeaway flat white and doughnut and then crossing the road into Stamford Park to take my son for a play!

5. Two Brothers Coffee

– Best coffee shop for working in Altrincham

Two Brothers Coffee in Altrincham is a beloved specialty coffee shop and micro-roastery known for its expertly crafted brews and welcoming atmosphere. Using ethically sourced beans roasted on site, the team serves standout espresso drinks, filter brews, and seasonal coffees (which are really good coffees!).

Whenever I go in here, lots of people are in the back with their laptops and it does make for the best cafe in Altrincham to work from in my opinion thanks to their big tables and this back area. They also have a seating area in the front which is great for people watching and relaxing.

For a truly good coffee in Hale village, I suggest going to Reggies on Ashley Road. This coffee shop has a strong focus on coffee and they make it really well! Grab a takeaway coffee in Hale, or, pair it with a pastry or granola bowl inside their cosy but stylish cafe.

There’s some seating out the back, perfect for those summer day and you can see why it’s a firm favourite with locals.

Plant Blends in Hale is known for it’s Acai bowls and smoothies but if you’re looking for a bulletproof coffee or superfood coffee with matcha, turmeric, chai and more, Plant Blends is the place to go in Hale!

They have a super cool cafe with some seating outside too. For a healthy coffee shop in Altrincham to visit, Plant Blends in Hale is ideal!

8. MOST Bakery

– Best bakery coffee shop in Altrincham

Not all bakeries make really good coffee as well as really good pastries, bread and cakes but MOST Bakery in Altrincham Town Centre does, and this is why it’s really popular coffee shop with locals in Altrincham!

MOST is perfect for grabbing a takeaway coffee (and sweet treat!) because of its location right in the town centre. They do have inside seating although it is limited, along with some outside seating perfect for watching the world go by! Be sure to check out their seasonal coffees and treats too!

9. Lugo Coffee Shop

– Most family-friendly coffee shop in Altrincham

If you’re looking for a coffee shop in Altrincham to take the kids to too, I recommend Lugo coffee shop next to Altrincham Library. They serve good coffee and a wide selection of drinks in a welcoming setting with big tables overlooking Alty Market.

They are also one of my recommend brunch cafes in Altrincham because of their family friendly menu, aka, lots of pancake options and the ease of access into the cafe.

10. Kickback Coffee

– Best Altrincham retail park coffee shop

Outside of Altrincham Town Centre and by Altrincham Retail Park is Kickback Coffee, offering much more than coffee, but, really good coffee if that’s what you’re going for!

Kickback Coffee is tucked under the arches, right on the canal and the cafe is a micro-roastery serving exceptional speciality coffee with a consistently strong reputation.

The canal is the perfect place to go for a walk, or run in Altrincham and Kickback is the ideal place to get a coffee for your walk or post run all week long. They also offer regular community events on their website for running and cycling so if you want something deeper than coffee, check them out!
